Anonymous asked: saw the YouTube video The Boy Comes With The Room (damn he was cute). That was in Thailand right? Have often wondered how easy it is to move to/live in Thailand... and if it'd be expensive to do so? Any thoughts?
Thailand Can Be Tiring, Yet Still A Good Place To Retire…
Thanks and yes that was in Bangkok, Thailand. It’s easy to move and live in Thailand if you’re 55 and older and have a pension of some kind, and/or prove that you have $25,000 or so stashed in a Thai bank once a year. There’s some quirky rule they have about crossing a border every 6 months or something, a visa scam if you ask me. There’s a huge number of expats retired and living well in Thailand. I think you can also if you manage or own a beer garden, guesthouse, restaurant, etc. that puts more Thai people to work. Otherwise teaching English is the only work you’re allowed, and the pay is really bad. I looked at some beautiful one bedroom condo apartments in Jomtien going for $350 to $700 a month! US retirees can use their medicaid there, and you get four and five star hotel style treatment at the big hospitals.

http://photojimsf.com — I was so flattered and tickled that this fine young man, Chai, was showing his affection by placing his hand on my knee. We were riding the songtaew, which means “two rows”, aka baht bus on the way back to Pattaya, Thailand. Chai had spent the day showing me the infamous Dongtan gay beach.
